There are various genetic disorders which can have an impact on an individual, as well as that individual's family. The following is a list of disorders that have been proven to be genetically linked either by a single pair of genes, polygenic inheritance or combined genetic and environmental factors.
1. You may choose from the list below, or find another one on your own. If you are NOT going to choose one from the list, please ask your teacher to make sure it is a good choice of subject.

2. Research Topic - You must have at least 3 different sources and they must be properly referenced in MLA format. Pictures you download from the Internet must also be referenced.
3. Create a tri-fold pamphlet or brochure, like the ones you would find at a doctors office. You can create this pamphlet by using the templates available in Google docs or you must include:
a) What are the symptoms of the disease?
b) What causes the disease? (Include chromosome-gene location)
c) Does it affect a certain group of people, include statistics?
d) How is it passed on from generation to generation? Is it X linked?
e) Is the disease life threatening? What is the prognosis?
f) What are possible treatments?
g) Pictures, diagrams, illustrations, etc.
h) Title, name, date, (front page) and reference section (last page)
All writing must be your own ! Do NOT copy information word for word ! Include the categories as listed, but feel free to be creative and add more. Find pictures and graphics to place on your pamphlet.
